Border Patrol’s 100th Anniversary Gala Canceled Amid Political Correctness Concerns

Culture WarsBorder Patrol’s 100th Anniversary Gala Canceled Amid Political Correctness Concerns

Beyond any reasonable comprehension, an event celebrating 100 years of dedicated service by the Border Patrol has been abruptly canceled due to political correctness and overreach within the ranks. This decision, made by the Border Patrol’s national chief, Jason Owens, smacks of bureaucratic overreach and unfounded paranoia surrounding an internal investigation related to the agents’ supposedly inappropriate connections with Mexican businessmen.

Despite meticulous preparation spanning several years, Owens announced late Thursday that the commemorative gala set to take place in El Paso, Texas, would no longer go forward. This cancellation disregards the efforts and dedication of many planning the event, and reflects a troubling trend of political correctness trampling on traditions that honor our nation’s brave defenders.

“The gala event planned for May 25th in El Paso celebrating the Border Patrol’s 100 years of history has been canceled. All other events will proceed as planned,” Owens lamented in a post, taking the path of least resistance.

Three insiders, embedded in the investigation, have spoken out, asserting that the probe into Owens and Rio Grande Valley Sector Chief Gloria Chavez has been exaggerated and no misconduct has occurred. Yet, in a move clearly driven by an overzealous desire to appear ethically spotless, Owens decided to preemptively cancel the gala to shield agents from potential disciplinary actions for their attendance.

According to earlier reports from NBC, a small faction of current and former senior Border Patrol officials, along with their spouses, ventured to Mexico for leisure with a respectable Mexican tequila maker, failing to disclose their plans. This justified the internal scrutiny that now suspends the Border Patrol’s ability to honor its century-long efforts in a deservedly grand manner. The insinuations and ethics investigation that followed this trip are just another example of the encroaching “gotcha” culture.

Sources who participated in the trip clarified to the Washington Examiner that the investigation was triggered indirectly during another inquiry. Remarkably, this simple journey has been scrutinized with ridiculous attention to detail to ensure procedural correctness. This adherence to red tape detracts from upholding the morale of our diligent Border Patrol agents.

Federal protocols demand thorough disclosure of international personal travels by senior law enforcement figures, who are prohibited from accepting largesse from foreign entities. Despite this, the NBC report insinuated that these officials “partied with” Francisco Javier Gonzalez, a reputable figure at the Tequila Casa de los Gonzalez distillery, causing undue alarm over supposed ethical violations.

One individual on the trip squarely dismissed accusations of wrongdoing: “Jason will be cleared for all of this. The trip was approved, documented, and personal leave was taken. We paid for everything. We have receipts for everything,” they affirmed.

Such a regrettable cancellation not only undermines morale but also casts a pall over what should have been a celebration of a century’s worth of unwavering service. The Border Patrol’s agents, entrenched on the frontlines, deserve recognition, not rebuke from an overly cautious bureaucracy intent on safeguarding its image at the expense of tradition and honor.
