Colombia’s Radical President Petro Denounces Israel and U.S., Calls for Global Socialist Revolution

In a fiery address to the United Nations General Assembly, Colombia’s far-left President Gustavo Petro declared that neither Israel nor the United States are “the children of God,” directly accusing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of nefarious actions. Petro, who has maintained a public stance of vehement opposition to the conservative governments of Israel and the U.S., delivered a speech rife with radical rhetoric and unsubstantiated claims that have drawn widespread condemnation.

Petro’s speech, characterized by calls for a “world revolution” and the establishment of an artificial intelligence “global public authority,” targeted the “richest one-percent of humanity, the powerful global oligarchy” for their alleged role in global conflicts such as those in Gaza and Sudan. He utilized this platform to denounce free market principles, which he paradoxically blamed for what he termed the “maximization of death.” Through his diatribe, Petro sought to encapsulate the mindset that far-left ideology often brings to the discourse, framing wealth and free-market advocates as existential threats to global peace and stability.

The language used by Petro was laden with controversial and inflammatory assertions, such as accusing those advocating for market freedoms of supporting a system that precipitates violence and environmental destruction. He went so far as to claim, “When Gaza dies, humanity will die,” a statement that echoes the hyperbolic narrative often employed by extreme leftist ideologues to stoke fear and division. Petro’s portrayal of Netanyahu as a “hero for the richest one percent of humanity” due to his defense policies vividly illustrates his deeply ingrained animosity toward pro-liberty and capitalist viewpoints.

It is important to note Petro’s personal history; an ardent communist, he was a member of the M19 Colombian Marxist guerrilla terrorist organization in his youth. His administration’s recent decision to sever diplomatic ties with Israel—following Israel’s defensive actions against Hamas terrorists—further cements his radical positions. His comparison of Israel’s self-defense measures to the atrocities of Nazi Germany underscores a deliberate distortion of historical and current events to fit an anti-Western Marxist agenda.

Throughout his tirade at the U.N., Petro lamented that governments advocating for supposed “genocide” in Gaza and climate ruin are those that the world heeds, while the voices of radical left-wing leaders like himself are allegedly ignored. He criticized the free market and accused “the richest one percent” of resisting efforts to eliminate the use of oil and coal, which he linked to advancing climate crises. He boldly attacked those proclaiming “Long live liberty,” unwittingly revealing his opposition to foundational principles of freedom and self-governance.

His speech further ventured into accusatory territory by asserting that these wealth controllers manipulate the media and suppress scientific truths, akin to themes portrayed in the satirical film “Don’t Look Up.” However, his failure to address the severe human rights abuses by the regimes in Cuba and Venezuela, which he has previously shown solidarity with, epitomizes the selective moral compass that often plagues far-left leadership.

President Petro’s endorsement of socialism, illuminated by his assertion that its “red flag” must now encompass “all colors,” coupled with his call for a “world revolution” to dismantle the “global oligarchy,” lays bare his vision of global upheaval. By advocating for a massive insurrection against the so-called oligarchy, Petro positions himself as a catalyst for chaos under the guise of global solidarity, ignoring the historical failures and human costs of socialist experiments.

Petro’s rhetoric represents a stark reminder of the dangerous ideology that seeks to undermine core American values of freedom, personal responsibility, and market-driven prosperity. As he concluded his address with a call to arms for a “new history” and the rise of new leadership, his remarks serve as a clarion call for vigilance against the encroachment of extremist views that threaten liberty and order. Through his words, the importance of standing firm in defense of conservative principles and the market values that have propelled human progress remains ever pertinent.
