In an era where the bedrock principles of the United States are continually under siege, it is imperative to critically examine the evolving narratives being propagated within our educational institutions. The unchecked spread of ‘land and labor acknowledgments’ in educational curricula across the nation represents a concerted effort to undermine the very foundation of American pride and sovereignty. Rooted in a progressive ideology that seeks to recast the nation’s history as fundamentally oppressive, these statements play a troubling role in shaping the perceptions of our youth toward cynicism and disillusionment.

Alarmingly, recent reports have unveiled that over 155 school districts nationwide, encompassing more than 5,000 schools and impacting approximately 2.7 million students, have adopted these divisive narratives into their educational content. These statements, rather than fostering a spirit of unity and appreciation for American exceptionalism, promulgate the notion that the United States was built on ‘stolen land’ and rests upon historical injustices. Such assertions serve little purpose beyond cultivating a sense of collective guilt and resentment amongst students, encouraging them to view their own nation’s past through a skewed, negative lens.

Nowhere is this agenda more evident than in the practices within Seattle Public Schools, where training materials have surfaced promoting notions of ‘Stolen Land’ and ‘Stolen Labor.’ These materials aim to dismantle established cultural norms, corralling students into a framework that prioritizes victimhood over empowerment. Similarly, in the Tukwila School District, officials have committed to actively recognizing and combating supposed systemic inequities, further promoting a narrative that undermines American meritocracy.

In California, radical ideologies permeate educational rhetoric, with districts like Arcata and Hayward Unified beginning meetings with land acknowledgments, steeped in the sentiment that America’s development was predicated on exploitation. San Francisco has ventured even further, with education officials voting to pursue reparations for Native American and Alaskan Native communities—a move made while schools remained shuttered due to pandemic policies.

Such teachings contribute not only to a growing sense of national pessimism among youth but also to a problematic rise in antisemitism. Fueled by the so-called ethnic studies curricula, these lessons cast America and Israel as oppressors, embedding anti-Zionism and anti-capitalism rhetoric directly into school programs. This narrative shift emboldens radical activism among students, who are taught to eschew traditional values in favor of a worldview that justifies dissent and violence against perceived oppressors.

The trajectory established by these ideologies—if left unchecked—threatens to cultivate a generation of Americans who feel justified in opposing their own country’s values and systems. The onus now falls upon vigilant parents and community members to hold educational institutions accountable, to challenge these divisive practices, and to demand a return to a curriculum that celebrates our nation’s achievements and instills true patriotism.

This confluence of revisionist history and ideological activism necessitates a collective response from those committed to preserving the integrity and ideals upon which the United States was founded. It is not only essential to reverse these educational trends for the benefit of future generations but also crucial for maintaining the nation’s identity and legacy as the land of liberty and opportunity.
