Former President Donald J. Trump made a strong call on Thursday evening, urging the Democrat-controlled Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg to abandon the misguided prosecution against him.
Trump took to Truth Social to voice his concerns, stating, “People are thinking that Soros-backed D.A., Alvin Bragg, who never wanted to bring the Witch Hunt against me in the first place, is going to drop this ridiculous and very unpatriotic ‘CASE’ to save lots of money, and also the self-respect of his once revered Office.” Trump also emphasized that Bragg should redirect his focus to the real issue—rampant violent crime plaguing New York, which the former President claims is spiraling out of control.
Trump’s sharp critique comes on the heels of a challenging day in court for Bragg and his team. Trump’s legal team meticulously dismantled the prosecution’s key argument, specifically targeting the credibility of their ‘star witness,’ Michael Cohen. Under rigorous questioning by Trump’s defense lawyer Todd Blanche, Cohen’s testimony regarding an alleged conversation with Trump on October 26, 2016, about a hush money arrangement with Stormy Daniels was discredited. Blanche effectively illustrated that Cohen’s phone call that night, which lasted only ninety seconds, was primarily about a prank caller and did not substantiate the hush money narrative.
In the courtroom, Cohen’s attempts to suggest there was ample time during the call to discuss the hush payment fell flat as he failed to confirm whether he actually spoke to Trump directly.
Moreover, Trump did not hold back on his criticism of Judge Juan Merchan, despite a gag order in place, hinting at potential biases due to the activities of Merchan’s daughter. Trump highlighted that Judge Merchan’s daughter has received substantial payments to manage digital campaigns for Democratic candidates, including Trump’s major political challengers.
Trump expressed his concerns on Truth Social, questioning Judge Merchan’s impartiality by pointing out, “The dilemma is, and always has been, the Trump Hating (APPOINTED IN 2009 & STILL ACTING!) Judge, Juan Merchan, who would be confronted with the problem of how he would explain this TRUMP loss, to the Radical Left Democrats, to whom he owes so much?”
Trump’s post concluded with a strong call to restore integrity in the judicial system, by declaring, “Bring back ‘Justice in America.’ ELECTION INTERFERENCE!!!”
