Valentina Gomez, a young and unapologetic conservative Republican running for Missouri Secretary of State, has sparked controversy with her recent video telling voters not to be “weak and gay.” While running through the predominantly LGBTQ neighborhood of Soulard in St. Louis, Gomez, clad in a bulletproof vest, boldly declared, “In America, you can be anything you want, so don’t be weak and gay. Stay f***ing hard,” before the video cut to a photo of her holding a rifle.
At 24, Gomez is a prominent real estate investor and gun rights advocate, frequently showcasing her skills with firearms on social media. With the incumbent Republican Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft running for governor, Gomez is one among several candidates vying for the open seat in the upcoming primary on August 6. Given Missouri’s conservative leanings, the Republican primary winner is poised to claim victory in the general election.
Gomez’s fearless stance on contentious issues has garnered more attention than her competitors. In February, she made headlines when she posted a video of herself burning LGBTQ-inclusive books, denouncing them as “grooming, indoctrinating and sexualizing” literature. “When I’m Secretary of State, I will BURN all books that are grooming, indoctrinating, and sexualizing our children. MAGA. America First,” she tweeted.
Her recent campaign video attracted mixed reactions, with many liberal critics mocking her for wearing a bulletproof vest during a morning jog. However, Gomez’s supporters remain firm, appreciating her willingness to confront cultural issues head-on, including her outspoken defense against what she calls the “transgender agenda.”
In one instance, she attacked transgender influencer Dylan Mulvaney ahead of Mulvaney’s speech at Saint Louis University. “That dude is mocking women,” Gomez asserted, emphasizing that “a man will never become a woman” despite any medical interventions.
As the chief elections official in Missouri, the Secretary of State holds significant power over electoral processes. Gomez, upholding her belief that the 2020 election was stolen from former President Donald Trump, has proposed significant changes to the electoral system. Her platform includes “removing electronic voting machines to successfully transition towards universal paper ballot hand counting” and deploying the National Guard to oversee polling places.
Valentina Gomez’s run for Missouri Secretary of State is a testament to her unwavering dedication to conservative and liberty-minded values, setting the stage for a fiercely contested primary in August.
