This year’s political season is shaping up to be among the deadliest yet, with over 30 politicians meeting untimely, violent ends.
This week’s horrifying event in Acapulco has captured attention not only due to its brutality but because of the involvement of candidate Anibal Zuniga Cortez and his wife, Rubi Bravo. Zuniga, running for city council in Coyuca de Benitez, represented an alliance of opposition parties challenging the dominance of Morena, the ruling party.
